Sundered Helix Devlog #2


Introduction:

I originally made this game for the Dungeon Crawler Jam 2023.  As such, it is a first person dungeon crawler with the movement of the player locked to a grid.  The combat is real-time with an action bar that has to fill up before your party members will execute their actions.

For Version 1.2 I am submitting this game to the Improve My Game Jam 28.  I did not quite get all of my goals checked off before needing to upload the update for the deadline.  I also didn't take any notes for a change log for the first half of my changes since the last update, but then I realized that would be a good idea to start tracking, so I wrote down everything I remembered doing and tracking from that point forward.  So this list of changes might not be 100% complete, but it includes everything important

Changes:

-Modified locked chest interaction window to show lock difficulty and relevant member stats

-Fixed the lockpicking skill test to work the way it was intended to (at least in terms of basic success/fail.  Still haven't implemented a 'critical' fail because you can just keep trying until you either succeed or get bored.  Planning on adding an element of risk/permanent fail state in future)

-Added doors; locked, unlocked and secret (door sprites were only completed for one environment and so look out of place in most cases you will see in this version)

-Added new portraits for party members

-Added new sprites for gold coins

-Some Item drops have random quantity, between a min and max value

-Added a few secret doors to first dungeon

-Added doors to the first level of the third dungeon

-Changed loot lists for the chests

-Created the second level of the second dungeon
